China Ocean Shipping (Group) Company, known as COSCO  or COSCO Group, is one of the largest liner shipping  companies worldwide. It is a government owned company of the People’s Republic of China. Its headquarters is in Ocean Plaza in Xicheng District, Beijing.

According to the company, it owns over 130 vessels (with a capacity of 320,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU)) and calls on over 100 ports worldwide. It ranks sixth largest in number of container ships and ninth largest in aggregate container volume in the world.

The Group contains 6 listed companies and has more than 300 subsidiaries locally and abroad, providing services in freight forwarding, ship building, ship repair, terminal operation, container manufacturing, trade, financing, real estate, and IT. The Group owns and operates a fleet of around 550 vessels, with total carrying capacity of up to 30 million metric tons deadweight (DWT).

They are the largest dry bulk carrier in China and one of the largest dry bulk shipping operators worldwide. In addition, the Group is the largest liner carrier in China.


Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) is a Hong Kong-based container shipping and logistics service company. It is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Orient Overseas (International) Limited (OOIL).

Today, OOCL is one of the world’s largest shipping and logistics companies, with more than 280 offices in 58 countries around the world. OOCL provides 78 services covering international trading markets with a fleet of more than 270 ships, including Grand Alliance member line vessels, feeder and OOCL-owned and operated vessels.

OOCL has vessels of different classes with capacity varying from 2,500 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) to 8,063 TEU, plus ice-class vessels for extreme weather conditions.

The Grand Alliance was formed in 1998. Its members are Hapag-Lloyd (Germany), MISC Berhad (Malaysia), NYK (Japan) and OOCL (Hong Kong).

Hanjin Shipping

Hanjin Shipping is Korea’s largest carrier that operates some 60 liner and tramper services around the globe transporting over 100 million tons of cargo annually. Its fleet consists of some 200 containerships, bulk and LNG carriers. The company is worth KRW 6 trillion and earning KRW 9 trillion annually.

A member of the Hanjin Group, Hanjin Shipping has several subsidiaries and affiliates including logistics IT specialist CyberLogitec, Pyeongtaek Container Terminal Co., Ltd., ship management company – Hanjin SM (Ship Management), and terminal operation company – HPC (Hanjin Pacific).

KML Cargo

Air France Cargo-KLM Cargo is the dedicated air cargo business of Air France-KLM. By joining forces in the cargo arena in 2005, AF-KL Cargo has now become the world’s biggest non-integrator operator, generating combined turnover of 2.9 billion euros. From the past both Air France Cargo and KLM Cargo have been on the forefront of transporting and handling a variety of cargo. Building on this experience, AF-KL Cargo offers a wide range of air transport services in the market, providing seamless connections throughout the world with more than 400 destinations.


MSC serves 270 ports worldwide on the six continents. 350 local offices, employing a total of 29,000 people, provide an agency network representation. Vessels with up to a capacity of 9,200 TEU, including one of the largest container ships, the MSC Pamela. The company remains independent and wholly owned by its president Aponte and his family.

The line was named shipping line of the year in 2007 for the sixth time in eleven years by Lloyds Loading List, which is an achievement not matched by any other shipping line. The line has just also placed orders for eleven new vessels that will be able to carry up to 15,000 TEUs each, which are some of the largest container vessels in the world.

MSC India’s new headquarters building MSC House was inaugurated by Diego Aponte in 2008.

MSC also has a subdivision serving some of its IT needs which is called Interlink Transport Technologies Inc., located in Warren, NJ.

Japan-based Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (日本郵船株式会社, Nippon Yūsen Kabushiki Kaisha?)  (TYO: 9101) (Japan Mail Shipping Line) or NYK Line, is one of the largest shipping  companies in the world. It is a core Mitsubishi  company. The company has its headquarters in Chiyoda, Tokyo.

Our heritage
